Petronas takes aim at racial stereotypes in Deepavali film promoting tolerance in Malaysia

Petronas is back with another thought-provoking seasonal film for the religious festival of Deepavali, taking aim at people who judge others based on their race.

The film, called ‘I am Muniandy’, begins with two Malaysian Indian men who the audience is initially led to believe are gangsters.

“Let the light in our hearts guide our judgement,” the film concludes.

The agency behind the film is Leo Burnett Kuala Lumpur, which has a long association with Petronas and is renowned for creating memorable films for special occasions in Malaysia.
