JWT hires McCann’s Carter Chow as China CEO

Carter ChowJ. Walter Thompson has raided McCann to appoint a CEO of its China operation, bringing in MD Carter Chow for the top job.

Chow brings to an end more than three years with McCann, and his appointment marks a return to the agency where he was previously a group account director.

JWT has also promoted George Shi to MD of the Shanghai office.

John Gutteridge, JWT’s APAC CEO, said that Chow had “the perfect blend of local and international expertise.”

“He has an intimate understanding of what it takes to grow brands in China, but he also has a very global perspective on culture and commerce.  He is innovative and enterprising, which fits perfectly with the future of our business,” said Gutteridge.

Chow starts on 2 January and will work alongside with Norman Tan, China chairman and North Asia chief creative officer.
