M&C Saatchi Malaysia speaks of need for diversity as agency announces senior hires
M&C Saatchi has spoken of the need to bring diversity to the workplace after adding a male Brazilian and a female American to its senior ranks in Malaysia.
Former Lion & Lion head of social media and engagement Meredith Wallace has been named head of digital strategy and social media, while Gabriel Camargo has been confirmed as strategic planning director
An M&C Saatchi press release stated: “With these key hires, M&C Saatchi Malaysia addresses that creating diversity in its talent is essential in embracing new cultures and learning skills that would take the agency to greater heights.”
Wallace, along with three former colleagues at the Kuala Lumpur-based digital agency, was instrumental in trying to bridge the diversity gap in the industry by creating a networking group in Malaysia aimed at inspiring women to pursue their marketing careers.
The organisation, MissMafia was founded following comments by Kevin Roberts, the global boss of Saatchi & Saatchi who was forced to resign after suggesting women are happier in non-executive roles.
At Lion & Lion Wallace worked with L’Oreal, Google and Coca Cola, while Camargo has worked with Petrobrás, Amazon and Pepsi.
“His expertise comes at the right time for M&C Saatchi Malaysia, as the agency moves forward to push for more effective and integrated campaigns for its clientele,” the agency said.
“Both Camargo and Wallace will spearhead their respective teams as the agency gears up to meet the demands of an industry that has clearly evolved particularly in digital, mobile as well as social media.”
