JWT encourages Singapore consumers to ‘shop as you are’ in RedMart campaign

Singapore-based online supermarket RedMart is claiming it will make grocery shopping hassle-free in a new campaign.

Created by J.Walter Thompson Singapore, the integrated campaign uses the tagline ‘Shop As You Are’, to show that online shopping can fit in with a hectic, modern lifestyle anytime and anywhere.

The campaign will run for three months and will appear on buses, trains and taxis as well as bus shelters across the island.  Founded in 2011 by Roger Egan, Vikram Rupani and Rajesh Lingappa RedMart was acquired last year by South East Asian e-commerce giant Lazada Group. JWT won the RedMart creative account in September. RedMart appointed Starcom to handle media planning and buying in May last year.

The e-commerce market in Asia has become notably competitive during the last year. In May, Chinese giant Alibaba acquired a stake in Lazada for US$1 billion last year, giving it significant control of the South East Asian market. Just months later, Lazada bought RedMart.

Amazon does not yet offer an online delivery service in many parts of South East Asia, but launched a limited version of its Prime service in China last year. The American company reportedly plans to launch in Singapore in the first quarter of this year.
