Former Publicis Manila CEO Matec Villanueva joins CNN Philippines in consultancy role
The former chief executive of Publicis Manila, Matec Villanueva, has resurfaced at CNN Philippines with the network looking to tap her experience of the market to expand its audience and revenue, Mumbrella can reveal.
Villanueva, well known in the industry following a 20-year career with Publicis, has joined the broadcaster as brand development consultant.
She retired from Publicis last year.
CNN Philippines president Armie Jarin-Bennett told Mumbrella that Villanueva brings a “high level of advertising and marketing skills and in-depth industry knowledge” to the network.
“It will help CNN Philippines realize our 2017 growth strategy: from viewership to revenue,” she said. “She will be working very closely with me and our marketing and sales teams to strengthen our position in the media industry.
“She is a mother of three, a part-time lecturer at Ateneo de Manila John Gokongwei School of Management, a health buff, and an avid golfer. She’s fun, funny and an invaluable asset to the CNN Philippines family.”
Matec, who describes herself as a “consultant-on-the-loose and speaker-at-large” on her LinkedIn profile, said she can offer CNN Philippines “the crazy side of an advertising person”.
CNN launched in the Philippines in early 2015 in partnership with local free-to-air broadcaster Nine Media Corporation.
It saw 9TV rebrand as CNN Philippines.
