Starcom Singapore MD Patricia Goh leaves agency for tech role

Starcom Singapore managing director Patricia Goh has resigned from the company after nine years. Goh is understood to have joined a tech company in Singapore, although specific details were not disclosed when Mumbrella Asia approached the agency.

She will be replaced by the Publicis Media APAC head of digital transformation Ian Loon, as of March 1. Goh first joined Starcom Mediavest Group Singapore in 2008 and rose through the ranks, becoming general manager in October 2013 and then MD one year later.

Following the global restructuring of Publicis Groupe’s media agencies under the Publicis Media banner, and the dissolution of SMG into Starcom and Mediavest Spark, Goh became MD for Starcom Singapore.

Publicis Media Singapore CEO Gareth Mulryan said: “I had the pleasure of working with Pat over the past year, which has been great. She has the desire and appetite to explore opportunities in the tech space, I wish her all the best for the future.”

Her replacement Loon has spent 13 collective years with Starcom during various stints. He began his advertising career as an intern at the agency when it was created by Leo Burnett, following the global decoupling of media and creative back in 2000. Publicis Media described him as “among the agency’s first ‘digital-at-core’” planners who was involved in developing digital capabilities at Starcom offices across the APAC region.

In November, he launched the NextTECHnow initiative in Singapore. It aims to connect start-ups and entrepreneurs to clients across Publicis Media’s agency network.
