BBDO, Ogilvy and Mullen Lowe lead 138-strong shortlist at APAC Effie Awards 2017

A total of 138 entries have made the shortlist stage of the 2017 Asia-Pacific Effie Awards, following the second round of judging in Singapore last week.

Determined by more than 60 judges over three days, the entry list includes agencies from 13 countries. The BBDO network dominated the shortlist with 45 entries. Ogilvy & Mather and Mullen Lowe follow with 27 and 15 entries respectively.

Other shortlisted entries included TBWA, McCann Worldgroup, Grey Group plus independent agencies such as Mumbai-based Medulla Communications and Affinity from Australia. Agencies from Australia, New Zealand and India took the highest number of entries per country.

Headed by chairman Anthony Wong of Ogilvy & Mather Group, the jury consisted of six ‘heads of jury’ – Ashish Bhasin of Dentsu Aegis, Ike Kwon of Kia Motors, Jean-Paul Burge from BBDO Asia, Kitty Lun of Facebook, Nicole McMillan of The Wrigley Company and Ross Jackson of Bank of New Zealand.

Wong said: “The jury had a difficult task in selecting the best work that represents the finest in the Asia Pacific region and gives brands a steer on what the future of effective marketing looks like.”

The winners will be announced at the awards gala dinner, which will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore on April 21.
