Dentsu Aegis data agency Merkle names Zhengda Shen as APAC president

Performance marketing agency Merkle has announced the appointment of Zhengda Shen as president of Merkle Asia Pacific.

Known within Merkle as ‘Z’, Shen has been with the company for 17 years. As president, it is claimed he will lead the agency’s growth from 450 employees to 1,000 across APAC by the end of this year.

Shen will also oversee regional acquisitions, media partnerships and technological development. Since joining the United States-headquartered agency in 2000, Shen has held a number of senior roles, the most recent being leader of the company’s ‘global marketing solutions group’.

“Given Z’s 17-year history with Merkle, he is uniquely positioned to provide the leadership that we need across Asia Pacific,” said Merkle CEO David Williams.

Founded in Baltimore, Maryland, Merkle was acquired by Dentsu Aegis Network for around US$1.5 billion in August last year – the biggest deal for Dentsu since merging with Aegis in 2012.
