Indian Olympian Sakshi Malik stars in International Women’s Day campaign

Indian Olympic wrestler Sakshi Malik is the star of a new International Women’s Day campaign celebrating the daily victories and struggles of women in her home nation.

The bronze medallist appears in a number of different guises during the one-minute video, which appears on online platforms. Her costumes include a policewoman’s uniform, construction worker’s overalls and finally her own wrestling gear. The voiceover says: “In India, every Sakshi becomes a winner every day.”

Shared on social media under the hashtag #EveryWomanStrong, the campaign promotes the idea that all Indian women can be strong and victorious like the celebrated Olympian.

The campaign was created by Ogilvy Mumbai for Indian steel giant JSW’s charitable initiative Janam Se Janani Tak (From birth until I die), which runs skills training programs and helps women set up small enterprises in a number of Indian villages.
