Y&R Singapore appoints Shirley Tay as CEO

Y&R Singapore has named Shirley Tay as chief executive officer, taking over agency leadership from the now-departed managing director Melvin Kuek.

Tay joins Y&R from the Singapore office of Australia-based creative agency ZOO, which she built from scratch in 2015 in her capacity as MD. Prior to joining ZOO, Tay worked at Ogilvy & Mather Singapore for 15 years in various roles.

She reports to Y&R Asia president Matthew Godfrey, who said:“I find it really inspiring that Shirley took the opportunity to be entrepreneurial and build a new business. Such commitment and courage is a spirit we like to embrace, definitely one of ‘Resist The Usual’.”

Kuek, who held the MD role for over four years, left Y&R to take on the same position at DDB Singapore in December.

Y&R has also appointed senior account director Janelle Goh, formerly regional account director at Red Fuse Communications in Hong Kong.
