Chris Catchpole returns to Vietnam as BBDO ECD

BBDO Asia has named Chris Catchpole as the new executive creative director at in Vietnam

The move marks Catchpole’s return to Vietnam after a year-long stint in Shanghai as ECD of Interone, an agency under the BBDO umbrella.

Before then, he was based in Ho Chi Minh City as ECD for Asian independent agency Phibious and, before then, Lowe Vietnam.

After leaving Phibious last year, he also launched new business making edible beauty products. 

The ECD role at BBDO Vietnam has been left vacant since August last year when the agency’s founder David Smail left the after 10 years to move back to United States for family reasons. 

Smail, who was also agency chairman,  became the first Vietnam-based creative to win a Lion at Cannes while at BBDO. In the interim period, ECD duties were overseen by a freelance creative.

Catchpole said: “It is my ambition to consistently deliver world-class creative for our clients in Vietnam; locally-relevant campaigns that capture the essence of this amazing country.”
