WE Communications nabs Lenovo APAC account from Text100 Singapore

WE Communications has won the public relations account for PC-maker Lenovo in Asia Pacific.

WE won the account from independent agency Text100 Singapore following a multi-agency pitch. The account covers communications, content creation and influencer relations for Lenovo’s PCs, tablets and data centre.

The win comes hot on the heels of WE’s recent business win for Nisan Infiniti’s start-up lab and the agency’s acquisitions of Red Bridge Communications in Shanghai and Singapore-based corporate affairs consultancy WATATAWA.

Lenovo said it would be focusing on promoting its brand message of ‘Different is Better’ across the region. “We need to ensure that we have a unified brand message across our diverse businesses,” said Stephanie Shi, head of communications at Lenovo Asia Pacific. “In order to do this, we looked for an agency that could exhibit drive, flexibility, and creativity, as well as a deep understanding of our stakeholder groups.”

Although still the world’s largest PC maker, Lenovo has struggled to maintain high sales over the last two years. Last year the company reported a  67 per cent fall in profits in its home market of China the final quarter of 2016.

Last year also saw a three per cent in shipments, from 57 million shipped in 2015, down to 55.5m. However, the company has a 21.3 per cent share of the global PC market.
