GroupM ‘leaps into the future’ with VR office video – complete with 1980s dance track
Virtual reality seems to have become the modus operandi for media agencies trying to show they are hip and down with the kids these days.
Or at least that’s how it appears to Dr Mumbo after viewing GroupM Asia Pacific’s VR tour of its office in Singapore – a video that gives you the chance to “leap into the future” without the need to jump into a DeLorean car.
Lacking his own Back to the Future time machine, Dr Mumbo was intrigued to see what the future looks like through the eyes of one of the world’s most powerful media companies.
Here’s why we should be so excited:
First up we have two young gaming pros trying to make it as obvious as possible that they are playing a game in the most exaggerated manner possible.
Next we have the research and development room, which naturally turns the futuristic dial up to 11 complete with robot voices and flying drones. Just mind-blowing.
And where would a modern, future-thinking media company be without ‘BIG DATA’?
Then finally we get the full 1980s rave treatment.
As ironic as GroupM is obviously trying to be with the retro, but at the same time futuristic, 1980s theme Dr Mumbo can’t help but be reminded of this real gem from that glorious period of unbridled creativity – an innocent time when playing Space Invaders at the local chip shop was as far as tech disruption went:
Dr Mumbo, if you listen closely at the 2:10 – 2:12 mark, you’ll hear the “audio jungle” watermark. Guess they forgot to strip in the purchased non-watermark track…
ReplyThere can only be so long until the walls come crashing down around GroupM… why? What? How? Why? Literally no point to this.
