Pepsi goes through the ages in summer campaign film from Civilization Shanghai

The Shanghai office of independent agency Civilization has created a seven-minute film for Pepsi showcasing the key moments in the lives of Chinese youths since 1981, the year Pepsi-Cola entered China.

Civilization Shanghai co-founder Andrew Lok said the film took three months of planning and a fortnight of shooting in multiple destinations.

“Most of the moments we featured in our film may seem ordinary to today’s audience but our characters were young people living through extraordinary times,” said Lok who also directed the production.”Growing up in the 80s, 90s and first decade of the 21st century in China meant being exposed to a flood of new experiences as the economy opened up to the world and grew at breakneck speed.

“And because of the rapid pace of change, every few years felt like a different era, a new generation, each marked by special moments.”

The film will form part of Pepsi’s summer campaign.
