Uncertainty looms for Vizeum as Marina Bay Sands calls media pitch

Singapore’s iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel is on the hunt for a new media agency for the Asia Pacific region, Mumbrella Asia has learnt.

The giant hotel and casino is understood to have called a pitch for a new media agency-of-record earlier this month.

The account is currently being handled by Dentsu Aegis Network’s Vizeum. The business was previously handled by sister-agency Dentsu, which originally won the account in September 2011 and then again in a review held in 2014.

The value of the account is said to be between S$10 million and S$15 million – roughly the same as when the business was pitched in 2014.

Before Dentsu, the account was handled by Starcom MediaVest Group, and prior to that, Mindshare held the business.

A request-for-proposal has been sent to at least six global media networks. MEC and the incumbent Vizeum are confirmed to be taking part. Havas and OMD are also understood to be in the running.

Meanwhile, Publicis Media agencies Starcom and Zenith have confirmed they will not be pitching. IPG Mediabrands’ UM has also opted not to take part.

Global consultancy R3, which is handling the review, confirmed the pitch was taking place, but was unable to comment further.

MBS has been contacted for comment.
