Expedia named as APAC’s most mobile-ready website

Travel booking site Expedia has the most mobile-friendly website in Asia-Pacific, according to research carried out by IPG Mediabrands’ technology arm Ansible.

The APAC-focused edition of the agency’s annual MDEX study listed the best-adapted websites for smartphones across 12 markets, including Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, and Thailand.

The report, which was unveiled at Mobile World Congress Shanghai last week, ranked websites based on five criteria: mobile optimisation, discoverability, navigation and content, usability and “driving desired actions”.

Using data from Google Tools and British online survey company YouGov, the report highlighted which websites provide a seamless experience for users – and those which cause them frustration and confusion.

Regional brands including Agoda, Lazada and Singapore Airlines made the top ten list alongside the following global brands:

1. Expedia
2. Airbnb
3. Amazon
4. Microsoft
5. Adidas
6. Agoda
7. Lazada
8. Google
9. Singapore Airlines
10. Twitter

Meanwhile, American discount store Target beat e-commerce giant Amazon to take the top spot on the global rankings.

1. Target
2. Amazon
3. Expedia
4. Airbnb
5. Microsoft
6. Agoda
7. Lazada
8. Vodafone
9. Adidas
10. Netflix
