JWT’s Ramzi Chaabane follows Joseph Chua to Resn Shanghai

Creative agency Resn has hired J. Walter Thompson Singapore’s digital strategy director Ramzi Chaabane to oversee a similar role in Shanghai.

Chaabane’s appointment follows that of Joseph Chua, who left his role as director of digital for JWT Hong Kong and Singapore last month to join Resn as chief operating officer.

Prior to joining JWT last September, Chaabane held digital strategy roles at MullenLowe Profero and Leo Burnett.

In his new role, Chaabane will lead the newly-formed China hub’s regional marketing team and will be tasked with designing digital strategies and developing new marketing opportunities.

Resn has also promoted New Zealander Jonathan Hawke as head of production. He has previously acted as executive interactive producer at both Resn and Unit9, and was responsible for securing agency partnerships with Wieden+Kennedy, Droga5 and JWT, and also with brands such as Ford, KFC and Perrier.

Originally founded in Wellington, Resn has expanded to encompass offices in San Francisco and Amsterdam over the past 13 years.

The agency’s China hub – which includes bases in Shenzen, Beijing and the HQ in Shanghai – was due to officially launch in June, but the date has now been put back to an unspecified date in July.

Another base is also due to launch in Singapore to round-off the Asia network.
