Mumbrella Asia Awards introduces live judging and four new categories

Mumbrella has become the first major marketing awards organiser in the region to introduce live questions from jurors to shorlisted entrants.

The rigorous process will be introduced for all categories of the next Mumbrella Asia Awards, which open for entries today.

The move will see juries come together in Singapore in October. After an initial round of shortlisting, finalists will be invited to make themselves available either in person or via conference call, to take questions about their entry rom the jury.

Hundreds gathered at the Intercontinental Hotel in Singapore for the previous Mumbrella Awards

Mumbrella Asia publisher Dean Carroll said: “We already have one of the largest and most senior juries in the region, and this latest step will add to the transparency and rigour of the process.

“We’re aware that there are a lot of awards shows out there, and have listened to industry concerns that in some cases credibility is not always what it should be when it comes to the judging process. This is why scam work sometimes wins awards and also why you get rumours that those entering certain shows are able to buy their way to an award win.

“As we run the Mumbrella Asia Awards for the fourth time,  we aim for it to be indisputably the toughest – and most meaningful – accolade to win in the region.”

Mumbrella Asia has also introduced four new awards categories:

  1. Best Use of Experiential
  2. APAC Creative Agency Network of the Year
  3. APAC Media Agency Network of the Year
  4. APAC Public Relations Agency Network of the Year

The winners will be announced at a ceremony in Singapore in November. The date is earlier in the calendar than usual, with the awards taking place during Mumbrella360, which takes place in Singapore from November 7-9.

Entries for the awards will be accepted until August 4, with late entries accepted until August 11.

Details of how to enter are available on the awards website via this link. The judging period covers July 1 2016 to June 30, 2017. Work entered for the previous Mumbrella Asia Awards will not be eligible to be re-entered.
