CNN International recruits TIME magazine bureau chief to oversee India news strategy

CNN International has named Nikhil Kumar as its New Delhi bureau chief to spearhead strategic planning of the network’s multi-platform news coverage in the region.

Kumar joins the broadcaster from TIME magazine where he was South Asia bureau chief, based in New Delhi.

Before moving to India, Kumar was a New York-based senior editor for TIME responsible for editing and managing its international editions, as well as providing foreign coverage for TIME’s US edition.

He also had a spell as New York correspondent for the UK’s The Independent newspaper and the London Evening Standard.

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of Nikhil Kumar as the New Delhi Bureau Chief as we reaffirm our deep commitment to India,” CNN International senior vice president and managing editor Ellana Lee said.

“Nikhil brings with him a deep understanding of this dynamic and diverse region and his expertise will be invaluable in this critical leadership role as we continue to strengthen our editorial operations in the country.”
