Redhill wins PR account with Emirates Airlines in Cambodia

Singapore-based public relations agency Redhill has won the communications mandate for Dubai-founded airline Emirates in Cambodia.

The independent agency founded by Jacob Puthenparambil and Surekha Yadav won the account after competing against Quantum Publicity and Brains Communication in a recent pitch. Havas RiverOrchid was also an early contender.

The airline launched flights from Dubai to the Cambodian capital Phnom Penh on July 1 this year. Marking the airline’s 13th route in South East Asia, the daily flights make a stop in Yangon, Myanmar, and then carry on to Cambodia.

The account will be overseen by Redhill’s managing director for Cambodia Kounila Keo, who is based in the agency’s Phnom Penh office.

Redhill’s first task as account lead was to oversee Emirates’ inaugural arrival into Phnom Penh Airport, which was attended by the minister of tourism Dr Thong Khon and the secretary of state of  of Civil Aviation Mao Havannall. The Cambodian Prime Minster Samdech Hun Sen also promoted the launch to his 8 million followers on Facebook.

The agency confirmed the appointment with the following statement: “Redhill Communications is Emirates airline’s PR agency in Cambodia. The agency won the pitch in May and handled the launch of Emirates’ Phnom Penh service.”

Redhill recently opened a base in San Francisco, adding its first US base to its roster of 11 offices in Asia.

The US office is intended to service Redhill’s eight venture capitalist clients, including Singapore and Los Angeles-based Wavemaker, as well as 15 Asian start-up companies in the first stages of significant investor funding.

In Singapore, the agency recently appointed Malini Thakker as an account manager, plus Nicole Tow and Pranav Rastogi as consultants.
