BBDO Indonesia names new CEO as MD Intan Mokhnar leaves agency after 15 years

The leadership of BBDO Indonesia has undergone a radical shift as agency veteran Intan Mokhnar leaves the agency after 15 years.

Mokhnar first joined BBDO in Kuala Lumpur as a senior account director in 2002. She then worked her way up the ladder to manage both BBDO and Proximity in Singapore as general manager. While there, she also ran the regional BlackBerry account.

Then in December 2013, she relocated to Jakarta to take over leadership of BBDO Indonesia as MD.  

According to the agency, Mokhnar chose to leave to pursue new interests, although BBDO declined to say whether a replacement MD was being sought.

Meanwhile, the agency has appointed a new chief executive officer in the form of ex-Ogilvy Indonesia MD Vaishali Sarkar.

Having spent her first 16 years at OgilvyOne India, and the last decade in Indonesia, Sarkar has led OgilvyOne, Soho Square and most recently Ogilvy & Mather.

The CEO role was previously held by Ricky Subrata, the-now president of BBDO Indonesia. Sarkar will however report to Richard Fraser, the president of BBDO South East Asia.

He said: “Vaishali is a proven and highly respected business leader with extensive global and local experience, which made her the standout CEO choice for our agency in Indonesia.

“Her vast omnichannel experience, passion for creative excellence, and history of building strong long-term relationships will give us a major advantage as we shape our business to match the ever-evolving needs of our clients in this growth market. We are delighted to have her on board.”
