Iflix CFO Georg Chmiel departs after 7 months

The chief financial officer of Malaysian streaming service Iflix has left the company after just seven months.

Georg Chmiel originally joined Iflix from the Singapore-based real estate firm iProperty in February this year.

However, he has now been replaced by Anil Jhingan, who will take on the dual role of CFO and chief commercial officer. Meanwhile, Chmiel will focus on his concurrent role of non-executive chairman of iCar Asia, an Iflix spokeswoman said.

Iflix has not disclosed the reason for Chmiel’s seemingly early departure.

Jhingan joins the streaming company from broadcaster Sky, where he acted as director of M&As and international development in London.

Iflix co-founder and group CEO, Mark Britt said: “Anil’s wealth of financial, corporate and industry expertise will be invaluable as our business continues to gain momentum in our mission to redefine entertainment for the next billion people. We have already benefited from Anil’s experience as a board member, and I am thrilled that he will now be even more closely involved in an executive capacity.”
