Vice opens APAC HQ in Singapore as Hosi Simon named regional CEO
Vice Media has announced plans to open a new Asia-Pacific hub in Singapore.
The youth-orientated publisher will also expand its hold on India with the opening of offices in Mumbai and Delhi.
Vice’s global general manager Hosi Simon will relocate to Singapore to oversee the region in the role of APAC chief executive officer.
The Singapore base will largely function as a commercial hub in Singapore, but will also offer documentary, scripted and film content production, plus creative services through its advertising arm Virtue Worldwide.
The hub is expected to be fully operational by January next year.
In addition, Vice has extended its current partnership with Japanese telco Docomo to bring Vice+, the brand’s subscription video on demand service, into Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand. Further country roll-outs are expected to be announced.
“We believe there is a huge opportunity for Vice to build out a deeply relevant, highly local, youth media company across the Asia Pacific region,” said Simon.

“With the growing importance of local culture to young people, along with a surging youth population and increased connectivity, some of the most dominant forms of global youth culture across technology, music, fashion, consumer brands, food and identity will come from this part of the world. We hope to play a significant role in creating and giving a voice to these movements, and helping to bring them to the rest of the world.”
In contrast to its awful website, Vice is making some good TV. Interested to see how it builds in Asia.
Singapore though. Just feels so…not Vice
ReplyI know right. We were just saying in the office they should’ve opened in Phnom Penh or Manila.
ReplyAsia is perfect for Vice, so many untold stories in the region, ignored by legacy media. They could create a mass youth audience.
ReplyAll hinges on the kind of reporters they bring in. If its the retrenched folks from sph, it’s game over.
