Dick van Motman has been promoted to the global and APAC president for Dentsu creative agencies. He will replace the current leader Takaki Hibino, who is returning to Tokyo as executive officer of Dentsu Inc.

Meanwhile, the current dentsu X APAC SVP and Thailand CEO, Mitsuyuki Nakamura, will take over as global and APAC president for the agency, a role also previously overseen by Hibino.

Van Motman joined Dentsu Asia in 2013 as the first non-Japanese regional leader. After the merger with Aegis to form Dentsu Aegis Network across South East Asia in 2014, the Dutchman spearheaded the region’s mergers and acquisitions.

Yesterday the holding company announced it had bought the Indonesian performance marketing agency Valuklik. In this year alone, DAN APAC also bought Indonesian media agency Dwi Sapta Group in January, India’s largest independent digital agency SVG Media in April and Singaporean content marketing agency Novus in June.

Elsewhere across DAN APAC, Motohiro Yamagishi, the CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network China, will move back to Tokyo to take on the role of executive officer of domestic client relations. He will be succeeded by Phil Teeman, the MD of Dentsu Aegis Network China.
