SpotX names S4M’s Gavin Buxton as new MD for Asia

Video inventory management platform SpotX has appointed a new managing director for Asia in the form of Gavin Buxton, formerly the Asia-Pacific leader of S4M (Success for Mobile).

Buxton: “Media owners throughout the Asian region have unique challenges and opportunities compared to their counterparts around the world.”

Buxton, who has 17 years’ experience in the digital advertising space, has left the mobile ad tech company after nearly two years to help expand SpotX’s presence in South East Asia and beyond.

He has previously worked for Microsoft, Turner Broadcasting, and LinkedIn, and currently sits on the board of the IAB Singapore.

Based in Singapore, Buxton will focus on bringing SpotX’s video ad serving technology across digital and broadcast mediums, which are still largely nascent within parts of the region, the company said in a statement.

“I’m excited to join SpotX at such a pivotal time, given consumers’ rapid adoption of digital video in Asia across devices, as there is a huge opportunity for publishers and brands to gain greater value from the video ecosystem,” he said.

“Media owners throughout the Asian region have unique challenges and opportunities compared to their counterparts around the world, and I look forward to helping publishers in this region address their specific video advertising needs through SpotX’s advanced solutions.”

He added: “With so much competition for consumer attention, we see brands moving towards personalised messaging and addressable video advertising that is relevant for specific viewers across multiple screens in brand-safe environments.”
