Golin Hong Kong recruits former Edelman Middle East digital honcho Ema Linaker

One of the Middle East’s most prominent faces in digital public relations has moved to Hong Kong and joined Golin.

The Interpublic-owned agency has tapped Ema Linaker to be its new digital executive director, handling everything from apps, experience platform planning to digital media planning and buying.

A regular commentator on the Dubai PR scene, Linaker was previously Edelman Middle East’s lead for digital marketing and communications, a position she had held since February 2016.

She also has worked for Leo Burnett and built Social@Ogilvy, Ogilvy & Mather’s social practice, across eight markets in the Middle East. Linaker began her career at Google as a corporate communications manager in 2003.

She will report directly to Golin Hong Kong managing director Jane Morgan.

Morgan said: “Ema’s expertise and drive are set to take our digital offer in Hong Kong and elsewhere in Asia to another level. Working closely with our growing data and analytics team, she’ll be able to forge ahead with strategic digital planning that is led by data-driven information and insights. What that means for clients is simply less risk with their marketing dollars and more concrete business results.”

Linaker added: “Consumer, customer and employee behaviours continue to evolve alongside technology. Clients need a trusted pair of hands to help them navigate the needs of digitally empowered stakeholders and the demands of new business models. Golin will be that trusted partner.”

Her appointment closely follows Stephen Millikin’s as executive director B2C and Ben Evetts’ as executive director B2B.
