Hotels.com APAC switches creative account from Grey to DDB

Hotels.com has appointed DDB Group Hong Kong to lead its Asian creative account following a competitive pitch.

The Expedia-owned online accommodation booking website has worked with Grey Group Singapore for the past two years to grow its Asia presence.

The company has now said its focus will be on increasing “brand affinity and customers’ emotional connection with the Hotels.com brand”.

The account will cover the markets of Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Taiwan.

Hotels.com senior manager of brand marketing APAC Chie Ikoma said: “DDB Group Hong Kong impressed us with its grand vision and ambition for our brief. The team thought about the task not just as a one-off campaign, but as a long-term sustainable platform. We look forward to working together to grow the Hotels.com brand across the region.”

The agency said it will bring the site’s recently launched brand mascot – a pug in a bellboy uniform – to “connect with the brand and Hotels.com customers and stakeholders”.

DDB Hong Kong business director Justin Bonnett said: “When we were presented with the opportunity, we felt excited by its creative potential We can’t wait to bring our idea to life across Asia, building a strong foundation for future brand growth. It also helps that we are all passionate travellers and dog lovers.”
