MoneySmart hires David Harling as CMO for Asia

Finance comparison website MoneySmart has appointed David Harling as chief marketing officer.

Formerly the digital marketing director at Moneysupermarket in London, Harling will now lead the marketing operations for MoneySmart across Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong.

The announcement:

Harling will be responsible for driving the growth and scale of marketing, whilst leading brand development to ensure product and experience continues to connect with customers and pushes innovation across each market. He will report to Vinod Nair, Founder and CEO of MoneySmart.

“We are delighted to announce David’s new appointment as the group’s Chief Marketing Officer. David’s expertise will allow us to strengthen our marketing and branding efforts, so we can continue to dominate the personal finance category in Singapore and over time, all markets we enter,” said Nair. “Given his wealth of experience in this category in UK’s largest financial aggregator and strong track record, I am certain that we’ll be able to take our marketing capability to a whole new level.”

Harling plans to focus MoneySmart’s strategy on growing customer loyalty and retention, stating that, “In the year ahead, MoneySmart will be looking at the role of data and technology to drive product leads and high value consumer content, along with deep personalisation for each customer. Personal and more contextual targeted communications will be embraced to complement our existing approach to customer acquisition, to ensure we match our users with the best financial products for their needs and that our customers continue to save money with MoneySmart.”

Prior to his appointment, Harling led the APAC marketing and media business at Omnicom Media Group for Google and held the role of Digital Marketing Director for the MoneySuperMarket Group in London – the UK’s leading price comparison website. He has also led strategies for the likes of Apple, Audi, DHL, McDonalds, and more.
