IPG Mediabrands Singapore MD David Haddad promoted to CEO

Eighteen months after joining the ranks from Australia, IPG Mediabrands Singapore’s managing director David Haddad has been handed the title of chief executive officer.

Haddad, the former general manager of UM Sydney, was brought on board to replace the outgoing CEO Pat Lim in September 2016, but was not given her executive title.

In his new position, Haddad will report to IPG Mediabrands APAC CEO Leigh Terry, who commented: “Dave’s ascension to CEO is absolute testament to the transformation of the Singapore network and its agencies under his leadership.”

“IPG Mediabrands Singapore has grown from strength to strength over the past year, cultivating a unique culture and progressive offering that has proven to be a very attractive proposition to new talent and clients alike.”

Haddad added: “I am incredibly humbled and honoured to be appointed to the role of CEO for IPG Mediabrands, Singapore. This agency network has been a large part of my life for many years now, and it pleases me greatly to be able to take the next step in my career in a company that I thoroughly enjoy working for.

“We have a strong business with many great opportunities ahead of us. Our client base is fantastic, we’re blessed to work with some of the brightest marketers in the industry, and, importantly we have a unique and energetic agency culture that makes coming to work each day inspiring and a lot of fun.”

Haddad first joined the agency in Singapore shortly after the global ascension of Henry Tajer, the much-lauded former CEO of Mediabrands Australia.

Until Tajer’s departure last year, the holding company saw a number of senior executives fly into Asia from Australia, including Haddad, Matt Scotton, the APAC head strategist, and the-now departed chief operating officer Reg Davidson.

In addition, Asia boss Prashant Kumar saw his role taken up by Terry, who was the former boss of OMD Australia.

Last year, Mediabrands won several new clients in Asia, including Toastbox, SingEx, Singapore Institute of Management, plus global wins of Coach, LEGO, Carlsberg and Spotify.
