OMD Hong Kong promotes Gary Wong to MD

OMD Hong Kong has rejigged its local leadership with the promotion of current general manager, Gary Wong, to managing director.

A 20-year media veteran, Wong was part of the OMD Hong founding team in 1998.

Having been promoted to GM in 2014, Wong played a key role in the agency’s growth and driving new business over the last four years, OMD said in a statement.

Meanwhile, OMD Hong Kong has also appointed Desmond Ko as business director. Joining from client-side, Ko previously worked for Ptarmigan Media, and has held roles at UM Hong Kong and Anheuser-Busch Asia.

Ko was also previously at OMD Hong Kong, having began his career there in 2000.

Commenting on the appointments, Deric Wong, CEO of OMD Hong Kong, said: “Over the last two years, Gary has played an integral role in the transformation of OMD, having been responsible for many successes and establishing the agency’s unique positioning in Hong Kong.
