Publicis Media APAC boss Gerry Boyle plans London return following EMEA restructure

Publicis Groupe has once again overhauled its media business by unifying its APAC and EMEA leadership under Gerry Boyle.

The former chief executive officer for ZenithOptimedia APAC has led Publicis Media in the region following the holding company’s restructure of all its media agencies two years ago.

The Scotsman will remain in Singapore until the end of the year before returning to London, from where he will continue to manage the two regions’ P&Ls, Mumbrella understands.

Reporting into Steve King, the global CEO of Publicis Media, Boyle will replace Iain Jacob in running the EMEA operation. The latter is to exit the business in May after handling the transition.

The company has also handed its EMEA chief operating officer, Nicole Pruesse the additional remit of APAC. She will remain based in Europe.

King said: “Gerry is a proven and well-known leader, strategist and client partner. In his most recent role as Publicis Media CEO, APAC, he delivered much success, including establishing the Publicis Media model in the region, developing a network of outstanding leaders, and driving client businesses forward. Nicole is also an extraordinary leader, well-equipped to build on our momentum across markets.”

Boyle first moved from the UK to Singapore in 2013 to take the top regional job at Zenith Optimedia, succeeding Phil Talbot.

Three years later, he was handed headship of Publicis’ entire media arsenal, as the names Zenith Optimedia and Starcom MediaVest Group were retired and replaced with Starcom, Zenith, Mediavest | Spark and Optimedia | Blue 449.

Since then, Publicis Media has dropped the Mediavest altogether and renamed the agency Spark Foundry.
