Isentia CMO Richard Spencer departs

Isentia has parted ways with chief marketing and product offier Richard Spencer, Mumbrella can reveal.

Spencer joined Isentia following the company’s acquisition of his social media agency Two Social in 2013. He became chief marketing officer in July 2016, with the title evolving to chief product officer in February of this year, where he still had responsibility for the company’s marketing, products and CX strategy.

Spencer took the role of CMO at Isentia following Two Social being merged with the content operations of Isentia’s troubled King Content division.

A year later, Isentia closed down King Content and wrote off its $37.8m investment in the business it bought for $48m in 2015.

Following the write-off, Isentia CEO John Croll was defiant about his responsibility for the King Content acquisition but announced in February this year he would stand down after 20 years in the role, which saw the business expand beyond its media monitoring roots.

In May, Doug Snedden took over as executive chairman as the company looked to find a replacement for Croll.

An Isentia spokesperson said in a statement: “While the company looks to the future, chief product officer, Richard Spencer has made the decision to resign. We thank him for his significant contributions to the business and wish him the very best with his next role.

“Further to this, Doug Snedden has taken on the role of executive chairman and will lead the day-to-day operations of the business pending the appointment of a new CEO.

“Further to the initial announcement on John Croll’s departure, the external search for a replacement continues.”
