New Lenovo APAC CMO to be based in India

Chinese technology giant Lenovo has appointed Bhaskar Choudhuri as its new Asia-Pacific chief marketing officer. He previously had the same brief but specifically for the India market – a role he had been in for five years, an unusually long tenure for a marketer.

He succeeds former chief marketing officer Nick Reynolds, who has been appointed as the company’s global head of marketing for digital, web and social media. Reynolds is currently based in Sydney, Australia.

Choudhuri, who will remain posted in Bangalore in India, will focus on expanding the company’s customer base across Japan, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia. He will report to APAC president Ken Wong, who is based in Hong Kong. Choudhuri previously worked for Cadbury India in a number of executive roles.

Reynolds will report to CMO Gina Qiao

Under Choudhuri’s leadership, the Fortune 500 company – with a market capitalisation of US$45 billion – successfully launched its smartphones in the India market.

On his appointment Choudhuri said: “I am excited to have the opportunity to lead Lenovo’s brand and marketing in the region. Under Nick’s leadership, our marketing efforts have created a strong momentum in the last few years, especially in the emerging categories such as detachables, gaming and AR/VR.”

Outgoing APAC CMO Reynolds will now report to the firm’s newly appointed global CMO Gina Qiao. She is based in Beijing, China.
