Airbnb marketing chief quits for Hong Kong-based customer engagement role at Shangri-La

Airbnb global marketing chief Ben Hallam is relocating to Hong Kong to head up customer engagement at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

Hallam will spearhead innovation, strategic partnerships and oversee the end-to-end customer journey for the hotel chain, according to AdNews.

“Shangri-La is a brilliant company who are investing to ensure their product and experience sets a new standard for the travel category,” Hallam is quoted as saying. “Their customer first approach and appetite for innovation is super exciting. I can’t wait to bring it to life. Watch this space.”

Hallam joined Airbnb in August 2016 as head of marketing before he was promoted in January this year to global marketing lead.

Mumbrella has approached Shangri-La for comment.

Prior to joining Airbnb, Hallam was a group director for the Coca-Cola account at Ogilvy Sydney. He has also worked with Young & Rubicam and Publicis in both Sydney and Singapore.
