Digital ‘charm’ lures Leo Burnett ECD Pravin Sutar to Dentsu Webchutney

Dentsu Aegis digital agency Webchutney has named Leo Burnett creative Pravin Sutar as its Mumbai-based executive creative director.

Sutar, who held the same role at Leo Burnett in Mumbai, said it was time to move from traditional creative channels and experience the “charm” of digital.

“We all say advertising is moving towards an integration between mainline and digital. I’ve always thought that the best way to create madness is to be a part of the method and that brings me to my switch from close to two decades in Mainline to a future in Digital,” he said.

“There’s no denying that mainline has its own charm and I feel grateful for having carried that understanding with me. For a while now, I’ve seen a similar charm in digital.”

During a near-three year stint at Leo Burnett in Mumbai – his second spell at the agency – Sutar worked with brands including HDFC Bank, HDFC Life, Amazon and Park Avenue.

Dentsu Webchutney executive vice president and branch head Nishi Kant said: “It’s great to have someone of Pravin’s experience on-board in a digital environment. His enthusiasm for his craft, I’m hoping will spread infectiously through the agency.”

Sutar added: “The scope of being relevant through content, engaging through craft and clever with innovations, is exciting to say the least. I find Dentsu Webchutney to be the most cutting edge and innovative digital agency. I look forward to being able to contribute and learn as we move forward.”

Prior to Leo Burnett, Sutar spent 14 months at Geometry Global in Malaysia having joined from Leo Burnett Malaysia where he spent two and half years as senior art director.
