‘First ad ever featuring hairy women’ goes viral, as girls get their armpits back

Last year, Dr M couldn’t help but have some fun with media images featuring retouched photos of women’s armpits. You will all remember this Photoshop horror show in the Singaporean daily newspaper The Straits Times.

As Dr M reported at the time, the ad for slimming company Marie France featured what appeared to be Singaporean television actress Fann Wong, only with something missing – namely armpits.

There was also this Maxim magazine cover featuring Indian film star Priyanka Chopra. What were they thinking?

But now thankfully, Dr M is pleased to report that the status quo has – as it always eventually is – been disrupted. Just check out the Billie razors ad from the United States below, which has already gone viral.

In fact, the New York-based start-up brand claims it is the first ad ever to feature hairy females. Dr M is not saying he laid the foundations for such bold and brave progressive work, but you know…
