IAB Singapore appoints new chair and vice-chair with mission to be ‘go-to resource’ for digital industry
A new chair and vice-chair have been appointed to the Interactive Advertising Bureau Singapore following former chair Tobias Wilson’s decision to step down after a two-and-a-half-year tenure.
Well-known industry figure and comScore Asia-Pacific senior-vice-president Joe Nguyen will take up the position of chair, while prominent Dentsu APAC marketing and communications director Laura Green-Wilkinson steps into the vice-chair role.
Along with IAB Singapore chief executive officer Miranda Dimopoulos, they will form the industry body’s executive committee.
“Joe has been involved with the IAB since its inception and has been pivotal in our growth in Singapore and growing demand across the wider region,” said Dimopoulos. “His experience and insights are perfectly positioned to continue to build on our growth and industry leading initiatives.”
She added: “Laura has been the driving force behind our relationship at a group level with Dentsu Aegis Network as well as shaping our messaging and initiatives to be truly Asia first. I’m looking forward to another exciting year as we continue to elevate everything we do.”
Nguyen, who has been an IAB leadership council member since 2011 and was educated at Princeton University, revealed that his shared mission with fellow IAB members was for the body “to be the go-to resource for the industry for all things digital”.
Green-Wilkinson, who worked at McCann and Clear Channel before joining Dentsu five years ago, added: “The IAB Singapore is key to the growth of the digital industry in the region and is an invaluable resource for education, research and leadership.”
Membership at the IAB, an industry body focused on the digital space, has grown exponentially since former Publicis global new business manager Dimopoulos took over more than four years ago.
The organisation is also staging more events and has entered into partnership with the Singapore government to promote best practice through accredited learning in areas like programmatic advertising.
In a previous statement, Wilson – also APD Singapore CEO – said: “I have loved every minute of being on the IAB board and couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved.
“I’ve regretfully decided to step down this year to focus my time on APD’s growing remit as well as my two boys. I will continue to support IAB and wish the new board, and Miranda, every success.”
Congratulations Joe and both Lauras. IAB SG are showing the region how a real Association should be run.
ReplyDoesn’t Joe look happy between the lovely ladies? Joking aside it’s good to see Joe get the recognition he deserves as a cornerstone of the asian digital industry. Well done mate on the continued success and an extra well done to Miranda for her tenacity and passion.
I owe you a whisky.
