Vice expands Singapore HQ with the hire of Serene Lee as head of sales

The continuing Asia-Pacific expansion plan at Vice Media has seen Serene Lee appointed as APAC head of sales. She will work out of the APAC headquarters in Singapore and will report to APAC chief executive officer Hosi Simon.

VICE Media, the world’s leading global youth media brand, today announced a major new hire with Serene Lee joining the company as VICE Asia Pacific Head of Sales.

An integral part of VICE’s continued expansion across the Asia Pacific region, Lee brings 23 years of sales, marketing and management experience to the role. Identifying new opportunities, and deepening existing relationships, Lee will oversee sales in all territories in the region, working closely with VICE’s existing commercial teams across North Asia, South East Asia, Australia/NZ and India, and will quickly establish a significant commercial team in Singapore. Serene will also expand VICE’s commercial footprint across all territories and markets VICE has a significant and deeply engaged audience in – which is to say everywhere.

Lee joins VICE Asia Pacific CEO Hosi Simon in Singapore, the company’s new regional headquarters which will serve as the nucleus and hub for VICE’s activities — including commercial, content, and creative services through Virtue Worldwide.

Previously Senior Vice President of Forbes Asia, a global role with a strong focus in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East, Lee’s experience in digital/print advertising and sponsorship sales is extensive. Having been responsible for all digital, experiential and print advertising revenue, Lee oversaw strong growth in the Thailand and Malaysia markets and was consistently successful in creating integrated campaigns for key content initiatives. Prior to joining Forbes in 2004, Lee was Assistant Vice President and Co-brand Cards Head for Citigroup Singapore, having also worked as Regional Account Manager at AXN Asia and Asiaweek.

The appointment follows a vast expansion in the region through a series of major partnerships and an ambitious hiring spree of some of the best creative, content and commercial talent across all regions. Making major inroads into the nascent mobile content market in APAC, the recent launch of VICE India (in partnership with Times of India Group) has brought the full suite of VICE offerings to the youngest country in the world, alongside operations in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan that are furthering VICE’s ability to bring content directly to young people, on whatever screen they are watching.
