OMD extends media deal with games developer Activision to Asia Pacific

OMD is to handle the media planning and buying for games developer Activision Publishing in five Asia Pacific markets.

The agency was handed the local markets without a review.

It extends an existing relationship between the two companies dating back to 2011 with the agency working with Activision in North America and Latin America. OMD successfully retained the account twice before, in 2012 and 2017.

The new deal also includes EMEA.

In Asia Pacific, OMD will handle media in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia and New Zealand.

OMD Asia Pacific chief executive Stephen Li said: “The extension of the remit into APAC without a review is evidence of our network’s proven and consistent approach in helping our clients make better decisions, faster.

“We look forward to working with the team in APAC on the successful roll-out of their immensely popular game franchises.”

The assignment is effective immediately.

OMD will manage media worldwide for the launch of Black Ops 4, scheduled for release on October 12.

Santa Monica-based Activision has developed and distributed games such as Call of Duty, Destiny, Spyro and Crash.
