Two mobile adverts become one in National Day campaign from Telekom Malaysia

Grey Malaysia has created a National Day ad for Telekom Malaysia that enables mobile phone users to join their devices to play different versions of the ad – but which weave together into one story when played simultaneously.

Two stories have been shot for mobile in vertical format showing Malaysians making their way to a National Day celebration. While the two stories stand on their own, the visual elements of each connect when people hold their phones side by side.

The conclusion of the ads see the characters in each ad coming together at the same venue.

The 120-second ad also features a soundtrack in six languages to showcase the diversity of Malaysia.

Grey Malaysia executive creative director Graham Drew said: “The campaign is about separate elements all coming together. Different races, images, music, all great on their own but creating something special when together.”

Telekom Malaysia said the mechanics of joining two screens together “requires an act of unity” in keeping with the National Day celebrations.
