Digitas shakes-up Hong Kong office as agency prepares to start work on Cathay Pacific business

Digitas Hong Kong managing director David Paysant has departed only a year into the role and will be replaced by Wavemaker’s Antony Yiu as the agency prepares to start work on the newly-won Cathay Pacific business.

The senior change is understood to be one of several amid a restructure at the agency following its success in winning the airline business.

Digitas was the lead media agency on the Publicis pitch, with VCCP also winning a chunk of the sought-after Cathay Pacific work.

A statement from Digitas gave no reason for Paysant’s departure and merely said Yiu, Wavemaker’s head of digital, search and performance APAC, was replacing the “out-going MD of Digitas Hong Kong”.

Paysant, the former Geometry Global MD, joined Publicis-owned Digitas in September last year.

Creative and client services are two of the departments to have undergone a shake-up as Digitas bolsters its “digital media skills” to meet the needs of the airline.

Digitas declined to expand on the nature of the restructure or reveal what other personnel changes had taken place.

Publicis Groupe Hong Kong chief executive Tom Kao said in a statement that Yiu is “one of the most respected digital/media professionals in Hong Kong and in Asia”.

“This is a critical time for us as we are going through a transformation to strengthen our team in Hong Kong, and to drive even stronger collaborations among our agencies,” Kao said.

“We are absolutely delighted to have Antony on board to drive Digitas forward.”

Yiu, who starts in the role on Monday, will also have a business development role at Publicis Groupe Hong Kong.

Prior to joining Wavemaker in January 2014, Yiu held senior management positions at iProspect for more than five years.
