Dr Mumbo

How much TV is too much TV?

Dr Mumbo has often wondered if he watches too much TV.

But how much is too much?

He may have found the answer.

Perhaps when you realise you need therapy.

The Hindu Newspaper reported how a 26-year-old Indian man checked himself into a mental health clinic after he was unable to drag himself away from Netflix.

He watched continuously for seven hours.

Every day.

For six months.

That’s a lot of TV.

It thought to be the first case of Netflix addiction in India, a habit which left him with eye strain, fatigue and disturbed sleep patterns.

None of which sounds altogether surprising.

In an era where we are all mildly obsessed with our devices, and need instant answers to nail-biting cliffhangers, Dr Mumbo sometimes thinks wistfully of the days when we made do with three television channels, waited a week for a second episode and used the phone to actually talk to each other.

How quaint.
