Dr Mumbo has always preferred fact over fiction. And so a new ad from Adidas created by Cheil India had him at:

Until, seconds into the film about the Real Kashmir football club, the narrative seemed to take a sudden turn down ‘alternative facts’ alley.

Now, Dr M is no expert on Kashmir or Indian football, but he’s heard a thing or two from reliable sources.

For instance, the matches for the I-League – the sporting event that Real Kashmir FC are a part of – are not broadcast on radio. So, Dr Mumbo is unclear as to what the dear old men in the film were actually tuning into on their primordial radio sets.

And if children are going to cluster around a small screen to watch a game anywhere in India, its more likely to be a mobile phone than a tiny television set. The devil is in the detail folks.

But wait, all is forgiven. For the team at Cheil inserted a (in no way blink and you’ll miss it) disclaimer right at the start of the film. True professionals. Cap doffed.
