Ken Mandel joins Grab as regional head of advertising and monetisation

Ken Mandel who was previously president of innovation and commerce at Publicis Media has joined Singapore-based tech company Grab as regional head of advertising and monetisation.

Mandel’s past experience includes stints with ad agencies Ogilvy and JWT. He has also worked with Yahoo, Hootsuite and Salesforce.

Mandel announced his departure from Publicis in February this year saying his immediate focus would be Jam Ventures, an investment vehicle for start-ups and companies which he founded after leaving Yahoo.

In an interview with Mumbrella at the time, he had said: ““While working for Publicis, I could not be directly involved with it, but now seven or eight of the companies are coming to fruition, so I’m needed to help them.

“That’s going to be exciting, but in the long-term I am looking at something else.”

Speaking about his move to Grab in his an email, Mandel said: “Super excited to join a firm headquartered in Asia for a change, but even more so a firm that is making such a big impact in the South East Asian economy and digital ecosystem

“It was an opportunity I just had to grab — pun fully intended.”

Mandel’s mandate includes GrabAds, an advertising platform from Grab launched earlier this year.
