Annette Male takes over as CEO Wunderman Thompson APAC

Wunderman Thompson has appointed Annette Male as chief executive officer for APAC. Male moves from Digitas where she has been the CEO for APAC.

The APAC CEO at Wunderman Caspar Schlickum will be leaving to pursue another opportunity in the region, rumoured to be at management consulting firm Accenture.  

J Walter Thompson’s APAC CEO John Gutteridge moves to the newly created role of CEO Wunderman Thompson Australia/NZ. He will report to the CEO of WPP AUNZ. He will also be part of the executive committee at WPP in AUNZ, mandated with driving innovation across the group.

Male will report to Mel Edwards, the global CEO of Wunderman Thompson and will be based in Singapore.

She will be with Digitas till March 1 and start her assignment at Wunderman Thompson on March 4.

Male joined Digitas as managing director before taking over as APAC CEO in July 2016. Her mandate extended to China, India, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia. Previous to Digitas, Male who started her career at Mars, worked with Kitcatt Nohr, CHI & Partners and TBWA\GGT.

Commenting on Gutteridge’s move, Wunderman Thompson chairman Tamara Ingram said: “John has been a strong leader in APAC and brought considerable talent and new business to the region. John and I have been in discussions since last year about his need to be closer to his family in Australia and this is a
great outcome for both John and Wunderman Thompson.”
