Bob Mackintosh quits R/GA to ‘travel round the globe with family’

R/GA’s regional vice president and executive creative director for Asia-Pacific Bob Mackintosh has left the agency.

He leaves just a couple of years after moving to R/GA after 11 years with Host Sydney. The reason cited for his departure by the agency is: “To take time out from the industry in the name of adventure.” Mackintosh will apparently spend the year travelling around the world with his family.

The announcement:

R/GA’s regional VP ECD, Bob Mackintosh, is set to take time out from the industry in the name of adventure. After two years with the company, he’ll be leaving in late January and traveling round the globe with his family for the rest of the year.

“We’re sad to see Bob go and more than a little bit envious of his plans, but he’s leaving the creative teams and work in very capable hands,” said R/GA Global CEO, Sean Lyons. “Bob has built and led our creative leadership in the region and done so with wit and grace.” Founder Bob Greenberg also commented, “Fearlessness and curiosity are two of the qualities that we most cherish in our people, and stepping away from a job you love into the great unknown takes both. It’s a rare opportunity that Bob has seized, and he leaves with everyone’s best wishes and an inkling that, as is often the case at R/GA, our paths may converge again in the future.”

We’re looking forward to announcing Bob’s replacement shortly.
