Influencer agency indaHash makes marketing head redundant – but plans new APAC launches

Influencer agency indaHash has made its global head of marketing and public relations – Marydeana Nolan – redundant, but has denied rumours that it is closing offices in the Asia-Pacific region.

The company stated instead that it would actually be opening new APAC offices this year, despite the departure of London-based Nolan.

In fact, indaHash chief executive officer and founder Barbara Sołtysińska told this website that the company was in good health and would be launching new offices in Korea, China, the Benelux countries, Canada and Morocco during 2019.

She did admit, however, that the agency had restructured its Dubai office to become a regional hub, rather than a country-specific office, and added: “APAC remains a key region for focus and growth in 2019, including the ongoing servicing of existing regional clients Unilever and Johnson & Johnson.

“indaHash made one redundancy within the marketing and communication department this year – the department currently has more than 10 full time employees for marketing and communications purposes.”

Asked why Nolan was retrenched if the firm was performing so well, Sołtysińska said the change was necessary to move from “a centralised model to a region-focused one”.

She added: “Marydeana was never a team leader or a manager, but she acted individually in the scope of PR issues on a global level. Based on our previous experiences and having tried several strategies in different regions, we have decided to modify such an approach.

“We want to base more on freelancers than on an internal global structure. Such a model is already working in the Japanese market. We believe that such an approach will be more effective and efficient, as it is better adjusted to local needs.”

The company launched in Japan and Indonesia just this year. It also has a presence in Singapore, with APAC business development director Ashwin Chandoesing leading a team of three based in the Lion City. 

Across the wider APAC team, there are said to be 10 staff and 11 freelancers.

The shop claims to be a “global influencer marketing app that connects over 900,000 creators and influencers with the world’s greatest brands”.

The agency also says it has run more than 2,000 campaigns, generating 42 million engagements across 90 markets.
