Edelman’s vice chairman for Asia-Pacific, Middle East and Africa, Rupen Desai has let the company after a little over two years.

In a statement to Mumbrella, Edelman said: “In his two years with the firm, Rupen built up a strong integrated brand practice, establishing both depth and breadth in digital, creative and planning. He feels the time is right for the brand team to enter the next stage.

“A fantastic colleague, we would like to thank him for the contribution he has made and wish him all the best.”

The statement added that Edelman’s regional CEO Jesse Lin will drive the business forward during the transition period, working closely with senior leadership.

Speaking about his departure, Desai said: “It has been an interesting two years with Edelman; hard work and a lot of fun.

“I came in to build a strong integrated brand practice in the region. Leading the integrated teams across creative, planning, digital, PR, social and brand communications has been a great experience.

“During my time at Edelman, we added brilliant creative, planning and digital leaders across key offices in the regions. The integrated brand practice of 750+ talent has been winning lead agency assignments with clients like Arla, Unilever, Johnson & Johnson, Direct Asia etc. I am really proud of the teams and work I leave behind.

“I have, also, loved championing Edelman’s Women’s leadership network for the region, which is of huge personal importance as I believe in the economic impact of getting this right for our future generations.”

Desai moved to Edelman after over two decades with Lowe & Partners departing as president of the Asia Pacific region.
