Speaking about the assignment to Mumbrella, The Smart Local’s managing director Bryan Choo said: “We received the brief from Singtel to promote the latest Korean drama offering, Encounter, to drive subscription to Viu on Cast.
“Our aim was to attract viewers who enjoy Korean drama with specific content that they would find relatable. Spotlighting the easily identifiable, stereotypical over-romantic Korean Oppas (bros) in Korean drama, we compared them to the average Singapore boyfriend.
“Often clad in slippers and shorts, they are pressured to live up to these expectations, to hilarious results.”
Choo added: “Comments posted by users on the clip have been unanimously positive. Many girlfriends tagged their boyfriends to share with them the video and that helped increase the reach far beyond the target demographic.”
