Bike sharing company Ofo loses marketing manager to PayPal

Bike sharing firm Ofo’s marketing manager Selina Heng has moved from the company for a global brand role at PayPal, according to an update to her LinkedIn profile. Heng was among the first local hires by Ofo on its entry into Singapore.

Last December, regional PR manager Rachel Wong left Ofo and is now communications and sponsorship manager for Asia Pacific and Middle East at energy company Total.

The last few months have been tough for the Alibaba Group-backed Chinese bike sharing startup. In its home market, it has been affected by increased competition and subscribers demanding a return of their deposits.

In Singapore, the Land Transport Authority has suspended Ofo’s license and has demanded the company remove its bicycles from all public spaces by March 13.

Ofo laid off its operations teams just ahead of Chinese New Year and owes its suppliers S$700,000, according to media reports.
